PARTNERSHIPS AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

About Fence
Fence is building the modern infrastructure for asset-backed finance.
Today, asset-backed finance is still administered through spreadsheets, PDFs, manual reconciliation, slow drawdowns, bespoke legal and capital-markets processes, and fragmented information between originators, lenders, investors, SPVs, agents, and servicers. This is not just inefficient back office work. It is one of the reasons capital moves slowly, assets are hard to finance, and private credit markets remain less liquid, less transparent, and less programmable than they should be.
Fence replaces the spreadsheets, PDFs, and email with modern infrastructure based on APIs,AI, smart contracts and stablecoins.
In the near term, this makes Fence the tech-native facility agent for modern asset-backed finance: the operating layer that runs the facility and the SPV end to end. The larger vision is to enable the instant originate-to-distribute model for every asset originator: assets born with the data, controls, eligibility checks, cash-flow logic, and investor visibility required to be financed and distributed continuously.
Joining Fence means helping build the operating system for how capital moves into assets and back again.
The Mission
Your mission will be to make sure every lender and originator in US asset-backed finance knows Fence, and that the right ones are talking to us.
This is not a generic SDR role. It is a business development role for someone who can open doors with lenders, private credit firms and fintech originators, walk them through the product, understand their pain points, turn those conversations into real opportunities, and continue to build Fence's presence in the market.
What You Will Own
- Pipeline generation: Build a steady flow of qualified leads, that convert to real opportunities from every channel: self-sourced outbound, referrals, inbound, events and marketing campaigns.
- New conversations: Open relationships with ABF lenders, banks, private credit firms, asset managers and fintech originators, and run intro calls, demos, recurring touch points and follow ups required to identify opportunities.
- Qualification and handoff: Identify where Fence can act as the facility agent, map the counterparties, pain points and timeline, and hand opportunities to our Capital Markets team ready to move forward.
- Market presence: Own Fence's conference calendar and represent us at industry events. Plan and host Fence events, from private dinners to larger gatherings, with our Marketing team.
- Pipeline discipline: Keep an honest, up-to-date pipeline where every lead has a clear next step and nothing goes cold.
- Market feedback: Bring what you hear in the field back to Growth, Marketing and Product to sharpen who we target, how we explain Fence, and what we build next.
Who You Are
You are a relationship builder with real sales and finance fluency. You know how lenders and originators think, you enjoy being in the market, and you can hold your own in a capital-markets conversation.
Strong candidates will likely have:
- 4 to 7 years in fintech sales or business development, capital markets, structured finance, or private credit.
- Working knowledge of asset-backed finance: how facilities work and who the players are.
- An existing network across lenders, private credit firms, or fintech originators.
- A track record of building pipeline from scratch through outbound.
- Experience representing a company at conferences or organizing industry events.
- Spanish is a plus.
Why You May Not Be A Fit
You may not be a fit if:
- You mostly worked inbound leads or managed existing accounts, and have not built pipeline yourself.
- You have only sold SaaS without institutional-finance fluency and would struggle to hold a conversation with a structure finance professional.
- You need a mature playbook, collateral and a defined territory to get started.
- You prefer to stay behind a screen rather than meet people in person and at events.
Location
New York is the default location for this role, hybrid.
Why This Role Matters
Fence is moving from founder-led commercial conversations toward a repeatable institutional GTM motion.
The top of the funnel is where that starts. If we get this role right, Fence reaches every relevant lender and originator in the US, the Capital Markets team spends its time closing real opportunities, and the market starts to see Fence as the default way to run asset-backed finance.
COMPENSATION
$140,000 - 180,000 annual base salary, plus equity and performance bonus. Variable compensation is uncapped, with accelerators.
