Join Our Behavior Services Team as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Abilities, LLC has supported adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Warrensburg since 2003. We are a Missouri DMH Tiered Supports provider, and that shapes everything we do. When someone is struggling, we don't ask what is wrong with the person. We ask what the person needs that they aren't getting.
Our Behavior Services team brings that question to life every day. We believe behavior is communication, and the people we support are people first. Our plans are written to build the skills that help people live the lives they want, not to make them compliant.
What You Will Do
As an RBT, you work under the supervision of our BCBA, with day-to-day direction from our Lead RBT. You deliver ABA services in person in the homes of the people we support.
- Implement Behavior Support Plans and skill acquisition programs exactly as written.
- Collect accurate behavioral data in real time during every session.
- Complete your session notes in SetWorks the same day you deliver the session.
- Model and coach Behavior Support Plan implementation with residential staff when the BCBA directs you to.
- Coach caregivers in Tools of Choice, the positive support practice every Abilities employee uses.
- Run preference assessments and support FBA data collection under BCBA direction.
- Report what you see. Changes in behavior, health, medication, or the environment go to the BCBA right away.
- Help run Abilibucks, our agency-wide token economy that rewards growth and is never taken away.
What We Expect
We hold a high bar because the people we support deserve it. Our core values are Integrity, Community, and Empathy, and this is what they look like in this role.
- Integrity: Your data is real, your notes are true, and your time records match the hours you actually worked. When you make a mistake, you report it. Hiding a mistake is always worse than the mistake itself.
- Community: You work side by side with Residential, Community Services, and Nursing as one team. You show up on time and own your schedule, because the people counting on you need to be able to count on you.
- Empathy: You treat every person with dignity, even on hard days. You use objective, strength-based language in how you write and talk about the people we support.
Leadership at Every Level
We grow leaders here, and that starts with how you carry yourself in this role.
- Stay within your scope. RBTs never change a plan on their own. When something isn't working, you bring it to the BCBA.
- Ask for direction early instead of waiting for a problem to grow.
- Welcome feedback and use it in your next session. Supervision here is coaching, and we invest in it.
- Own your documentation. Complete, accurate records do not depend on anyone reminding you.
- Protect confidentiality and keep healthy professional boundaries with the people we support and their families.
What You Need
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Missouri driver's license with current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check through the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry, an Employee Disqualification List check, and a drug screen.
- Prior experience working with people who have developmental disabilities.
- A background in education, psychology, special education, social work, or therapy is a plus.
