We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client service team in our accounting services department. As a Senior Accountant, you will immediately begin building and managing relationships with clients. You will have direct contact with clients on a regular basis. Same-day travel for work at the client's office, meetings, or seminars is required at times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- 5+ years of relevant accounting bookkeeping experience required in Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment or 3+years in public accounting audit practice
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred
- General tax knowledge related to small business sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- Experience with accounting software and automation platforms such as Bill.com, Saasant, Ramp, and similar tools preferred
- Strong leadership, customer service, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels inside and outside the organization
- Ability to: interact with all levels inside and outside the organization, take initiative, anticipate problems, and formulate resolutions, exercise good judgment/decision making, prioritize and multitask, work independently, etc.
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting process for assigned clients, reviewing Staff Accountant work, resolving accounting issues, performing financial analysis, and serving as the primary day-to-day accounting contact for clients.
The Senior Accountant's primary focus is process ownership, review, analysis, problem-solving, and day-to-day client service.
Core Responsibilities

- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close for assigned clients.
- Perform complex reconciliations and accounting analyses.
- Review Staff Accountant work for accuracy and completeness.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review complex or non-routine journal entries.
- Analyze balance-sheet and income-statement fluctuations.
- Identify unusual trends, errors, and potential accounting issues.
- Research accounting questions and propose appropriate solutions.
- Ensure client books are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting principles and firm policies.
- Coordinate year-end work with tax and/or audit teams.
- Prepare schedules and information requested by tax or audit personnel.
- Assist with cash-flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain standardized processes for recurring client activities.
- Train and mentor Staff Accountants.
- Manage workflow and deadlines for assigned clients.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting issues and financial information.
- Escalate significant accounting, tax, operational, or client-service issues to the Manager.
This role is based out of our Sacramento office. A hybrid work schedule is offered after the training period, with three days in the office and potentially two days remote; however, this is dependent upon client service needs.
