Position Overview

Diverse Agile Solutions is seeking a Senior Application Developer / Engineer / Programmer to support a high-impact cloud application development environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing Python-based applications and microservices , building and deploying infrastructure using AWS CDK , designing workflows with AWS Step Functions , and developing secure, scalable RESTful APIs.

This role is well suited for an experienced software engineer who enjoys working across application development, cloud infrastructure, automation, testing, and DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Cloud Infrastructure

• Develop and maintain production-grade Python-based microservices .
• Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK .
• Develop complex business workflows using AWS Step Functions .
• Build containerized applications and services using Docker .
• Design and implement scalable RESTful APIs .
• Develop serverless applications using AWS Lambda .
• Integrate AWS services including DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, and EventBridge.
• Implement comprehensive application logging, monitoring, and auditing using Amazon CloudWatch and CloudTrail .
• Support multi-environment deployments through Infrastructure-as-Code practices.

Software Quality & Engineering Excellence

• Conduct peer code reviews with emphasis on:
• Maintainability
• Performance
• Security
• Scalability
• Coding standards and best practices

• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests .
• Troubleshoot defects and perform code remediation.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Participate in architecture and technical design decisions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.

Agile Collaboration

• Work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and other technical teams.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development and delivery processes.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support reliable CI/CD pipelines.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering , or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience .
• Demonstrated experience working throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments .
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Required Technical Skills

Python

• Strong production-level Python development experience.
• Experience with modern Python frameworks and testing libraries.
• Ability to develop maintainable, scalable, and well-tested applications.

AWS CDK

• Hands-on experience using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) .
• Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code for multiple environments.

AWS Cloud Development

• AWS Lambda
• AWS Step Functions
• Amazon DynamoDB
• Amazon S3
• Amazon API Gateway
• Amazon CloudWatch
• AWS CloudTrail
• Amazon SNS/SQS
• Amazon EventBridge

CI/CD

• Experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based applications.
• Experience automating application builds, testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning.

API Development

• Strong understanding of RESTful API design.
• Experience with API versioning, error handling, authentication, and integration patterns.

Version Control

• Strong Git experience.
• Understanding of branching strategies and collaborative Git workflows.
• Experience participating in merge/pull request reviews.

Containers

• Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker .

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

The following skills are desirable but not required:

• Experience with Terraform .
• Front-end development experience using:
• Angular
• React
• TypeScript

• Experience with additional AWS services, including:
• Amazon Athena
• AWS Glue
• AWS Load Balancers

• Experience working with event-driven and serverless architectures.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or government applications.

AI-Assisted Software Development

Diverse Agile Solutions values the responsible use of modern AI-assisted development tools.

Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or similar tools is a plus.

Candidates with experience using AI-assisted development tools for the following are encouraged to apply:

• Can independently troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Communicates effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Works effectively in an Agile environment.
• Understands secure software development and cloud engineering best practices.
• Can effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment.
