Do you love helping business owners make better financial decisions—and seeing those decisions translate into real business results?

At How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm (HTM), our CFOs build genuine, kitchen-table relationships with business owners. They're trusted financial partners who help owners understand what's happening in their businesses, identify opportunities, and make decisions that improve profitability.

You'll help owners answer questions like:

• Where are we really making money?
• How can we improve our margins?
• Why isn't our cash flow where it should be?
• How do we grow without losing financial control?

We're looking for a CFO who can point to real examples of how their financial leadership helped a business become more profitable.

This Is Not a Traditional Accounting Role

You'll serve as a strategic financial partner to a portfolio of approximately 30 growing law firms , helping owners understand their numbers, improve financial performance, and make better business decisions.

HTM provides the clients, systems, and infrastructure. You focus on the CFO work you love without having to find your own clients.

No cold calling. No prospecting. No chasing engagements.

No legal industry experience is required.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of CFO experience
• Direct experience advising small and midsized business owners
• Experience working with businesses generally in the $1M–$35M+ annual revenue range
• A demonstrated track record of improving profitability and financial performance
• Strong knowledge of pricing, margins, cash flow, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
• Ability to turn financial information into clear, actionable recommendations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to have candid conversations with business owners
• Experience managing multiple client relationships is a plus

We're not looking for someone whose experience is limited to financial reporting, controllership, or FP&A without direct responsibility for advising business owners.

We need a strategic CFO who can build trust, challenge assumptions, and help owners turn financial insight into action.

• $110,000 base salary + performance compensation
