Director, Business Development – Enterprise Consulting & Transformation

About the job

• About TransPerfect
• TransPerfect is a global leader in language services, technology, digital solutions, and business services, helping some of the world’s largest organizations communicate, operate, and grow more effectively.
• As TransPerfect continues to expand its Consulting and Digital businesses, we are building a team of experienced, consultative sales professionals who can engage senior business and technology leaders, uncover complex business challenges, and develop solutions that deliver meaningful business outcomes.
• The Role
• We are looking for a Director of Business Development to help build and grow TransPerfect’s enterprise consulting business by identifying complex business challenges within large global organizations and developing consulting-led solutions to address them.
• This is not a traditional product or transactional sales role. You will often engage clients before a specific solution, project, or RFP has been defined.
• You will work with senior executives to understand their strategic priorities, identify barriers to achieving them, quantify the business impact, and bring together the appropriate TransPerfect consulting, technology, digital, content, data, AI, and operational capabilities to develop a solution.
• TransPerfect already has relationships with many of the world’s largest enterprises. A significant part of this role is taking those relationships further upstream—expanding conversations from individual services and operational stakeholders to broader transformation initiatives and executive-level business priorities.
• Success in this role requires the ability to create opportunities, not simply manage them once they exist.
• Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute a strategic business development plan focused on enterprise consulting and transformation opportunities.

• Identify, prospect, and develop relationships with senior business and technology leaders, including C-suite and VP-level executives.

• Leverage TransPerfect’s existing enterprise relationships while creating new relationships through targeted prospecting, networking, referrals, strategic partners, conferences, and industry events.

• Develop account-specific hypotheses based on a client’s strategy, business priorities, technology environment, and market dynamics, and use those insights to initiate executive-level conversations.

• Lead consultative discovery conversations to understand clients’ strategic objectives, business challenges, technology environments, and transformation priorities.

• Uncover the underlying business problem behind operational or technology challenges and connect those issues to measurable outcomes such as growth, customer experience, speed, efficiency, cost, or risk.

• Identify and shape consulting opportunities before a formal project, budget, or RFP has necessarily been established.

• Build compelling business cases and solution strategies that connect client challenges to measurable business outcomes.

• Navigate from operational stakeholders to executive sponsors, decision-makers, and economic buyers.

• Partner across TransPerfect’s consulting, technology, digital, delivery, and specialist teams to assemble the right capabilities and develop customized client solutions.

• Work with technology and strategic partners to identify and develop joint opportunities.

• Develop and manage a strong enterprise pipeline from initial opportunity identification through negotiation and close.

• Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles involving business, technology, procurement, legal, and executive decision-makers.

• Develop proposals, presentations, project scopes, budgets, and commercial agreements.

• Negotiate pricing and contractual terms while maintaining strong client relationships.

• Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and sales activity within CRM systems.

• Cultivate long-term executive relationships and identify opportunities for continued account expansion.

• Travel as needed for client meetings, conferences, industry events, and business development activities.

• What We’re Looking For
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise consulting sales, technology sales, digital transformation, professional services, or a related field.

• Proven success selling complex, consultative solutions to large organizations.

• Demonstrated success originating complex consulting or transformation opportunities where no formal buying process initially existed.

• Proven ability to generate pipeline rather than relying primarily on inbound opportunities, established RFPs, or existing demand.

• Experience engaging senior business and technology executives and developing relationships with C-suite and VP-level decision-makers.

• Ability to develop a point of view about a client’s business and use insight to create meaningful executive-level conversations.

• Ability to uncover the business problem behind an operational or technology challenge and connect it to measurable financial, growth, customer, efficiency, or risk outcomes.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate beyond an initial operational contact to executive sponsors and economic buyers.

• Strong understanding of complex enterprise sales cycles and multi-stakeholder decision-making.

• Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.

• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to distinguish genuine opportunities from activity unlikely to convert.

• Highly consultative approach with the ability to operate as a strategic advisor rather than simply a product salesperson.

• Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where offerings, methodologies, and go-to-market approaches continue to evolve.

• Strong executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Why TransPerfect?
• This is an opportunity to help build and scale a growing consulting and transformation business within a global organization with an established enterprise client base.
• You will have the opportunity to:
• Work with some of the world’s largest and most recognizable organizations.

• Engage clients around strategic business challenges rather than individual products or services.

• Build relationships with senior executives and technology leaders.

• Create and develop complex consulting and transformation opportunities from the earliest stages.

• Draw upon a broad portfolio of consulting, digital, technology, data, content, AI, and operational capabilities to solve client problems.

• Collaborate with experienced consulting, technology, digital, and delivery teams.

• Leverage TransPerfect’s extensive enterprise relationships to identify larger, more strategic opportunities.

• Help shape the continued development of TransPerfect’s consulting business and go-to-market strategy.

• Participate in a fast-growing business with significant opportunities for career development and advancement.
