ChemTreat is seeking a Chemical Product Manager to own the strategy, performance and lifecycle of assigned chemical product lines. This role sits at the center of the business, partnering closely with Product Champions, Sales, R&D, Technical Staff, Operations, Procurement, Inventory, Regulatory and Finance to solve challenges, support the commercial team and drive portfolio performance.
The ideal candidate brings product management, portfolio management, technical marketing, commercialization, or related business leadership experience within the chemical industry or another technical, process-driven environment. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, and product leadership experience to help drive portfolio growth and long-term value.
The role is hybrid, four days onsite in Glen Allen, VA and one day remote .

- Support a highly customized portfolio of approximately 1,800 chemical solutions, with new products created to meet evolving customer needs.
- What You Will Do
- Own assigned chemical product lines, including strategy, performance, setup, optimization and obsolescence decisions.
- Serve as the hub between commercial, technical and operational teams, translating business needs into practical product actions.
- Partner closely with technical Product Champions to manage product-line strategy, product performance, raw-material challenges and customer-driven needs.
- Balance day-to-day issue resolution with longer-term portfolio priorities, adjusting quickly as business needs change.
- Manage portfolio economics, pricing, profitability, product rationalization and lifecycle activities in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Partner with Product Champions, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory and Operations to execute product strategies.
- Support product positioning, launch strategies, market initiatives and sales-enablement materials.
- Ensure product compliance and support product stewardship and regulatory reviews.
- What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of relevant experience in product management, portfolio management, technical marketing, commercialization, business development, technical service, operations, or a related role within the chemical industry or another technical, process-driven environment.
- Experience using financial, commercial, customer, and market information to make product or portfolio decisions. Business acumen and an understanding of pricing, profitability, product lifecycle management, and commercialization.
- Sufficient technical aptitude to understand chemical products, applications, manufacturing considerations, and regulatory requirements, and to work effectively with technical specialists.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority. Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear commercial and business recommendations. Ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managing industrial, specialty chemical, water-treatment, or other technical product lines.
- Experience with portfolio strategy, product rationalization, pricing, margin improvement, or new-product commercialization.
- Experience partnering with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, or Regulatory teams.
- Familiarity with industrial water treatment, specialty chemicals, paper, packaging, manufacturing, or adjacent process industries.
- Technical or scientific experience that supports sound product decisions, whether gained through product management, technical service, operations, applications, engineering, R&D, or other customer-facing or business roles.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 USD per year.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
