The opportunity
Reporting to the Commercial Sales Leader, we are hiring a Mid-Market Account Executive to establish Altus Group’s in-market presence in New York and grow a portfolio of mid-market commercial real estate accounts. As our new Mid-Market Account Executive, you will take ownership of an established book of approximately 80 accounts, identifying where there is untapped potential, building relationships across client organizations, and creating a strategic approach to account coverage that drives expansion and renewals. You will manage the full sales cycle, from identifying and developing opportunities through negotiation and close, while building a pipeline of selective new business across the New York market.
This is a full time role based in New York City with an expectation that you will meet with clients in person.
What's in it for you
A strong foundation for growth. You will inherit an established portfolio of approximately 80 mid-market accounts, including recognized organizations where there is significant opportunity to deepen relationships and expand adoption. Rather than starting from zero, you will build on existing customer relationships and strong market recognition while developing the account strategies, connections, and opportunities that drive meaningful growth.
A changing product and market. You will be selling at a pivotal point as we bring our products together into a unified, AI-enhanced platform and commercial real estate continues to adopt more modern technology. You will have the opportunity to bring an evolving suite of solutions to customers, helping them understand what is possible while expanding your own knowledge of the intersection between commercial real estate, technology, data, and AI.
Ownership and opportunity. New York is a strategic market, and you will have the autonomy to determine where the greatest opportunities are and how best to pursue them. You will shape your account coverage strategy, build relationships in person, expand under-penetrated accounts, and selectively develop new business across the market. As accounts grow, there is also an opportunity to expand your scope and work with increasingly strategic and enterprise-level relationships.
As our new Mid-Market Account Executive, you will:
- Grow your portfolio. You will take ownership of approximately 80 existing mid-market accounts, identifying where there is untapped potential and developing opportunities to expand relationships and increase adoption. You will prioritize accounts based on growth potential and build the coverage strategies and cadences needed to move opportunities forward.
- Build trusted client relationships. You will develop relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across client organizations, taking the time to understand their priorities, challenges, and evolving needs. You will meet with customers in person, deliver relevant product and solution presentations, and build broad relationships across multiple stakeholders and functions.
- Own the sales cycle. You will manage opportunities from initial discovery and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and close. You will maintain momentum throughout complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles by establishing clear next steps, navigating challenges, and bringing in internal subject matter experts and solution partners when needed.
- Develop new opportunities. You will build on your success within existing accounts to selectively pursue new business across the New York market. Drawing on industry relationships, referrals, outbound prospecting, and market insight, you will identify organizations where the solutions can address meaningful business needs and develop those opportunities into a strong pipeline.
- Drive a disciplined sales approach. You will maintain visibility into your pipeline, account activity, forecasts, and revenue opportunities while keeping CRM information accurate and current. You will collaborate across Sales, Marketing, Client Enablement, Account Management, Sales Operations, and other internal teams to remove barriers, strengthen the customer experience, and drive opportunities forward.
You bring:
- The sales experience. You have a track record of success in complex B2B sales, managing opportunities from discovery through negotiation and close. You know how to maintain momentum across longer sales cycles, navigate multiple stakeholders, establish clear next steps, and consistently work toward revenue targets.
- The account management skills. You know how to look across a portfolio of accounts, assess where the greatest potential exists, and focus your time accordingly. You can develop account strategies and engagement cadences, uncover opportunities within existing relationships, and build connections across different levels and functions within a client organization.
- The commercial mindset. You are curious about your customers and the market they operate in, asking thoughtful questions to understand business challenges before recommending a solution. You can connect customer needs to value, communicate solutions clearly, and negotiate effectively to move opportunities forward.
- The relationship-building skills. You build credibility with customers and colleagues through responsiveness, sound judgment, and clear communication. You are comfortable meeting clients in person, presenting to stakeholders at different levels, and working collaboratively with internal teams to solve problems and deliver a strong customer experience.
- The drive and accountability. You take ownership of your portfolio and are comfortable determining what needs your attention without waiting for someone else to set the path. You bring structure to your work, keep your commitments, communicate proactively, and use data, CRM tools, and a disciplined sales process to stay organized and accountable.
- The industry exposure. You have experience selling technology, SaaS, or complex solutions to business customers. Exposure to commercial real estate and familiarity with structured sales methodologies such as MEDDPICC are assets, but we are equally interested in your ability to understand a complex market, learn an evolving product suite, and build trusted customer relationships.
