Job Description Summary:
Responsible to prepare and deliver government coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Meets professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Job Description:
The Government Department offers on campus and online college credit courses across 11 campuses. In addition, the department offers dual enrollment courses to area high school students seeking both college and high school credit. Course offerings include U.S. Government, Texas State and Local Government, Mexican-American Politics, Introduction to Political Science, and an academic cooperative in government - but the department's bread and butter is U.S. and Texas Government course offerings. The department seeks to acquaint all students with basic concepts used in studying politics and government and provide its majors with an educational foundation that will allow them to pursue successfully a baccalaureate degree in political science or government or other fields at a four-year institution.

Required Education
In accordance with Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements: Master’s Degree in Government or Political Science or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in government or political science. SACSCOC requirements may differ depending on the courses taught within the discipline.
