Job Description
The Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Student Financial Services provides leadership and operational oversight for Student Financial Services (SFS) staff and functions, including student accounts, billing, education benefits, training, compliance, and customer service. This role serves as a key leader within SFS, supporting the accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement of departmental operations while ensuring compliance with university policies, federal and state regulations, and established business practices.

The Assistant Director will lead and develop staff, provide guidance on complex student account and customer service matters, review and analyze departmental reports and transactions, and ensure the consistent application of policies and procedures across SFS operations. The position serves as an escalation point for complex account issues and independently researches discrepancies, determines appropriate resolutions, and recommends corrective actions.

This position will also lead departmental initiatives focused on process improvement, operational effectiveness, and customer service. The Assistant Director analyzes performance data, identifies trends and areas of concern, prepares reports and recommendations for leadership, and supports audits and compliance activities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with internal departments, campus partners, students, families, and external organizations to promote consistent practices and a high level of service. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
