Job Description
The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.

Job Responsibilities
Report incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to the appropriate individuals, such as the HCD, RN/LPN, or Executive Director.
Maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs).
Perform housekeeping duties as directed by the supervisor, including making resident beds and cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining rooms, and other assigned spaces.
Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance and emergency alerts.
Remain calm and demonstrate competence when responding to emergency situations.
Assist with planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
Follow all confidentiality policies and procedures regarding the release of resident information.
Assist residents to and from the dining room and activities.
Conduct regular resident checks and ensure residents attend scheduled meals and activities.
Check on residents who are ill and report their status or any concerns to the appropriate individuals.
Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
Assist new residents with their move-in transition by providing emotional support and helping them adjust to the community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have successfully completed an approved Personal Care Aide program in accordance with applicable state regulations.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Must be organized and able to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow the instructions of the supervisor.
Must be polite, respectful, and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push or carry up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
Must wear the designated uniform during working hours, including a name badge.
Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
Must attend and complete all required in-service training and staff meetings.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
