Description of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to direct, manage, and coordinate the audiological services program at Murdoch Center. Responsibilities include identifying, establishing, and attaining goals for the audiological program in relation to the medical and habilitative aspects of the Center. As part of the Speech and Hearing Department, this position provides audiological evaluations for all persons living at Murdoch and recommends and refers hearing impaired individuals for further evaluation of amplification needs. The audiologist maintains and services individuals’ hearing aids and implements auditory training programs for people with identified needs. The audiologist orders needed testing supplies and other needed supplies and maintains the audiological equipment. The Department of Speech and Hearing houses the audiologist and audiological equipment. Staff members accompany individuals (adults, children and youth) to the Speech and Hearing Department for evaluation.

Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities.
