The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work
This position is located at Eastern Correctional Institution and oversees the Accounts Payable procedures for the facility. Duties of this position are to process all invoices for payment utilizing NCFS and preparation of purchase order requests. Enter and track requisitions utilizing e procurement and NCFS. Responsible for monthly budget reports, processing CNTR5 payments and entering and monitoring usage orders, manages and monitors purchase cards and performs monthly reconciliation of those accounts. This position is responsible for completing several reports and responding to inmate inquiries and grievances. This person must be able to work independently be able to meet constant deadlines while performing several tasks simultaneously. This position deals frequently with institutional staff regarding purchase orders and/or P-card purchases. This position has frequent contact with NCDAC staff relative to Inmate Trust Fund and with outside vendors regarding Purchase Orders, and P-Card purchases. This position must be able to communicate well and work well with staff at all levels. This position is the back up for the Trust Fund clerk and will be involved in cross-training with this position to include but not limited to the Inmate Banking System.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade Range: $31,200.00 - $51,249.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Documented composition and communication skills (written and oral)
Documented knowledge of E-Procurement,
Documented work or educational experience in accounting

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits .

The salary grade for this position is NC02 . State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.

About the Division of Institutions :
The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
