Job Summary:
Northeastern Illinois University’s Department of Health, Physical Education, Educational Foundations, and Urban Community Studies is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member. The ideal candidate will share the university’s commitment to educating a racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse student population and will collaborate with other faculty in the program, department, college and university to deliver high quality instruction and programs for diverse English Language Learners.

Starting Date: August 2027

Job Description:
The successful candidate will teach three courses in physical education, exercise science, or health each semester during the academic year. Office hours need to be delivered in person. Scholarly research and service to the department, college, university, and greater community also are required.

Minimal Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Physical Education, Health Promotion, Health Education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (ABD with completion by 8/1/2027 will be considered). Demonstrated instructional proficiencies and a strong understanding of culturally relevant pedagogy. Evidence of research and/or scholarly potential commensurate with the expectations for a beginning assistant professor at a regional, comprehensive university.

Preferred Qualifications:
K-12 teaching experience and proficiency with online instruction is preferred.

$65,000 - $68,000 ‎
