JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY DUTY:
To perform, conduct, and complete thorough preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout campus facilities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma

Certification/License: Valid driver’s license; EPA Type I and II or Universal CFC Certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment

Experience: Three years of HVAC repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance experience

Skills: Function highly independently with minimal direct supervision; understand and follow oral and written instructions; continually enforce highest standards on work performed; maintain security and accountability on access of equipment and facilities; comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies and established work practices; medium proficiency in the use of electronic technology (i.e. tablets, laptop, PC)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break and the possibility of after-hour emergency calls. Perform duties in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, accumulated precipitation on and around serviceable equipment, ceiling plenums, unpleasant odors, wet or damp environments, dimly lit equipment enclosures, etc. This position is considered essential staff. Essential staff provides services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the University, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect University properties. Should the University close for any reason, essential staff will report to work as usual.

Regularly or frequently: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, bend, twist, climb (including ladders), balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use fingers and hands to handle, lift, and use a cellphone, materials, tools, and equipment; reach with hands and/or arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance and with or without the use of devices and/or equipment to assist in the lifting effort.
