About the Job – Your Role
The primary purpose of the Physical Plant Supervisor is to plan, coordinate, supervise, and direct the maintenance, repair, and improvement of Oregon State Penitentiary’s buildings, utilities, equipment, infrastructure, and grounds.

This position provides management and technical oversight of skilled and semiskilled trades personnel and coordinates the assignment, training, and supervision of AIC work crews assigned to Physical Plant operations.

The Physical Plant Supervisor is responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and effective institutional operations through preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, construction projects, personnel management, budget administration, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

The position also supports the institution’s rehabilitative mission by providing structured work opportunities that develop occupational skills, reinforce positive workplace behaviors, and promote accountability among AIC workers.

Working Conditions
This position is located inside the Oregon State Penitentiary and works in close contact with adults in custody in the institution setting and may be exposed to hostile situations or incidents. Inherent custodial duties include the responsibility for personally handling AIC incidents in the employee’s immediate work area. The employee is responsible to prevent escapes from confinement by proper control of keys, tools, and contraband and documenting unusual incidents as they occur. The employee is subject to call back in the event of an emergency at which time he/she would be placed in any post in the institution.

Requirements for Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
