General Description: An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) II works under general supervision and provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. They are a critical link within their department in maintaining and modeling nursing practice standards and upholding the nursing code of ethics to ensure the highest quality of safe, patient care. They model the OU Health Way, as evident in their work output and interactions with employees and patients, through living OU Health’s core values of putting Patients First , pursuing Relentless Excellence , showing Integrity , seeking Inclusion for all staff and patients, always Learning , and valuing Teamwork .

RN II represents the competent nurse who meets expectations outlined in the baseline job description while advancing to proficiency. Experience in similar situations allows this nurse to use conscious and deliberate planning resulting in efficiency and organization. They can cope with contingencies and changes in situations. They are able to care for complex patients requiring a high level of technical and clinical skills. They work faster and more efficiently, and are team focused, becoming more astute in complex problem solving.
