Job Description:
The Medicine Nephrology Unit consists of 22 beds. This unit is part of our new collaborative care model, where a grouping of ten patients is cared for by a team consisting of RN, LPN and a dedicated CTA. The unit is divided into two groupings or pods, to care for a medicine surgical patient population, with a focus of renal disease, acute dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and all other medicine related diagnosis. There are also two dedicated comfort care/end of life suites, which are staffed with a dedicated concierge RN, providing care for the patient and family during the final stages of life. General Description: An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) I works under general supervision, providing the highest quality of care to patients in a hospital setting with health problems ranging from simple to complex. RN I represents the nurse who is a novice or an advanced beginner advancing to competent. While advancing from novice to competent, the nurse relies on rules rather than principles which are independent of specific situations. The advanced beginner may have enough real experience to begin to formulate principles.
