As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University Plymouth seeks qualified applicants for an Men's Wrestling Assistant Coach to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing leadership, management, and strategic planning for the wrestling program. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the head wrestling coach with all aspects of the Marian University wrestling program. The Assistant Wrestling Coach will report to the Athletic Director and the Men's Wrestling Assistant Coach
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
- recruit student-athletes that meet Marian University admission guidelines
- Cooperate with the admissions and financial aid departments to attract student athletes
- Comply with all NAIA rules and regulations
- Supervise student-athletes’ academic, personal and athletic development
- Provide professional mentoring to the student-athletes
- Establish competition and practice schedules as well as skill development of athletes
- Plan practices and meet preparation
- Implement and enforce the department and university policies concerning sportsmanship and school representations
- Promote the wrestling program to the public
- Assist in community relations and fundraising activities
- Other duties may be assigned by the athletic director
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and a commitment to the mission of Marian University
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred
- Experience in collegiate coaching with a preference to coaching wrestling
